Developing Interpretation

 

  1. Connecting Text to Outside Experiences and Knowledge
    1. When you make a comparison, think of which situation is most like the other one.
    2. When you answer a question about how someone felt, try to imagine yourself in the story.
    3. Use the information in the passage to give you clues about how someone felt.
  2. Author’s Use of Structure and Organizational Patterns
    1. Decide on author’s purpose; why the author write the passage.
    2. Figure out the patterns and organization the author uses.
    3. Graphic organizers help the student to understand the passage.

    1. Look for clues that support a conclusion.
    2. What is the conclusion that the statements in the passage support?
