NAGC REGIONAL ACADEMY PRESENTS ~
BEST PRACTICES IN GIFTED EDUCATION:
THE PARTNERSHIP AMONG HOME, CLASSROOM AND
SCHOOL
Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the Best Western
Royal Plaza
Hotel & TradeCenterin Marlborough, MA
The National Association for Gifted Children
(NAGC) is partnering with the Massachusetts
Association for Gifted Education (MAGE) to
host the first New England NAGC Regional
Academy.
Although you may certainly attend as an
individual, we believe that joint district
teams of four would make a powerful
combination and we have provided special
reduced pricing for district teams. Your
team of four might include:
Parents
Classroom Teachers
G/T Coordinators
Administrators
Counselors
Program Planning Committee Members
This may be a chance for you to be creative
in putting a team together. Perhaps a parent
group like your school's PTA might sponsor a
team or you could sponsor your child's
teacher or an administrator to join you. You
might even decide to gather a group of
parents to attend together and build
networking within your community. Morning
Breakout Sessions will include
Parent Power: How to Make it Work
Compacting the Curriculum and Flexible
Grouping
Identifying and Developing the Talents
in Culturally Diverse Learners
Scheduled Afternoon Sessions:
Managing the Social-Emotional Needs of
Gifted Students
Encouraging Creativity at Home and in
School
Acceleration as a Viable Alternative
Additionally, plans for the academy include
the ever-popular MAGE networking lunch and
Massachusetts update. This is a great way to
connect with others throughout your region
and gain important insight into the ways
that parents, teachers and administrators
may work together to provide services for
gifted and talented children.
