Dear Members of the Norwalk School Community,
Thank you for your interest in Norwalk’s Academically Talented program!  My name is Joan Glass and I am the Instructional Specialist in charge of the Academically Talented programs in Norwalk.  The Norwalk Public Schools offer a program for academically talented students in grades 3-8.  Students who qualify for the Academically Talented program demonstrate intellectual giftedness, tenacity, creativity, curiosity.  Norwalk has made great strides in our selection process. We test all Norwalk students for giftedness in second grade using the Structure of the Intellect (S.O.I.) test, and in our consideration of students for the program at every grade level, use a variety of data to determine giftedness. Our challenging curriculum provides academic enrichment for students and engages them in higher-order thinking activities.  Please see the Academically Talented program handbook (there is a link to it on this website) for further information about both the selection process and our curriculum.

Please enjoy our website and contact us with any questions you may have about the program.

 Warm Regards,

Joan Glass
